Amazon quicksight missing analysis and datasets

Hello team, my access was reset recently, I have been working on a dashboard and published it as a co-owner. After my access was reset, I lost access to the dashboard and got it enabled by asking my team mate ( co-owner ) to share the access. I logged into the account and now able to see the dashboard but I am unable to see the analysis or datasets that are being used to render the dashboard.

  1. I tried using the save as analysis button on the dashboard but unable to proceed as it says “you need to have access to the following datasets” - it shows the ids of the 3 data sets I have been using to feed this dashboard.

  2. Based on the above ask and also dashboard loading correctly, I can say the data is not lost ( This data is backed by SPS) but I have some permission and visibility issues from my account.

  3. I tried getting access to the data sets by asking the account admin to share the permissions for the above datasets so that I can use the save as analysis button so that I can modify the dashboard as needed. But, the admin mentioned the QS datasets are out of his scope.

  4. Can someone please confirm if this is the right approach as I think clicking on save as analysis will give me access to the analysis and also getting access to the datasets will help me resolve this issue.

  5. What are the next steps I can follow in order to get access to the datasets/analysis directly so that I can modify and make changes to the dashboard.

    Thank you.

Hi @tivinayz

  1. Double check the kind of license you have got now. You can check this by clicking on the dropdown at the top right corner
  2. If it is BI Reader you may need to ask for an Author/Admin license as that is required for you to create analysis and publish dashboards
  3. If you do see Author/Admin as the license then you should be able to ask your QS Admin to provide you access to the underlying dataset/analysis
  4. Someone with admin role and having owner access to those datasets can give you the permissions. You can not directly get it yourself directly.
  5. The out of scope question is more an organizational role/policy issue that you need to work through.

Hello @Giridhar.Prabhu ,

Thank you for the response. Clicking on the drop down on the top right for me just shows my alias as user name and account name I do not see the license when I view it from my account.

Hi @tivinayz

The other indicator is the menu pane. For my reader role I have the following. For my admin role I get the Data & Analysis.

Hi @Giridhar.Prabhu , I see the same and also see Data and Analyses from my account. But when I open either of them I have no access to what I previously authored.

Thank you.

Hello @Giridhar.Prabhu , I was able to get the access to data sets and analysis after the account admin was able to give access to me for those data sets.
