Hi @blueWinston we can do a refresh of a dataset in two ways.
Step 1 - Just select the datasets then we have a Refresh tab click on that & click the REFRESH NOW button.
Step 2 - On the Dataset page area we have an option for Refresh the dataset by simply click on the Refresh button available in the Query mode section.
Note - We don’t have any options available in QuickSight analysis area for refreshing the datasets.
If your dataset is Direct Query mode then there is no need to refresh it is auto refresh due to direct query mode
