Definition of a parameter range of the constant date type

Good afternoon everyone,

I hope you are all well. I’m starting this thread for the following reason:

The client requires that, upon logging into the analytics dashboard, all widgets update for the period from 6:00 AM the previous day to 6:00 AM the current day.

I have tried two approaches to achieve this:

  1. Within the parameters for Relative Dates, the value of N was set to 35, representing the last 35 hours at the time of the query. This doesn’t work, because depending on the time of the query, the dashboard won’t always reflect 6 AM.

  1. I’ve created calculated fields in the database to apply to a filter in my spreadsheet. So, every time the dashboard is queried, the filter uses the calculated field. But when I apply the filter, the table returns “No data.”

Have you worked with something similar?

Also, the client requires manual date entry within a different range than the one established. Therefore, the dashboard must have date parameters to allow for this change.

A couple questions to gain a bit more understanding of the scenario:

  • It sounds like you may be using Direct Query for this dataset, is that correct?

  • If so, is Direct Query required for this scenario?

  • What’s the calculated field syntax that you’re trying to use to handle this filter?
