My user is amazonbi. The flow did work when it went live and for some days before stopped working. Now it asks me for manually submitting (e.g. clicking on the submit button) in the action “send email”. I have no options in the flow to stop this manual confirmation. I have even updated the prompt in the Action and asked the Flow to send the email automatically but the run keeps being paused waiting for my manual submission. Anybody can help? Thanks. Here’s the link to the Flow https://us-east-1.quicksight.aws.amazon.com/sn/account/amazonbi/flows/view/c4c4177c-2b7a-4434-9747-b64fbdb8a2ed/edit
Hi @Eros.Santoni and welcome to the community!
As per my understanding, this is expected behavior rather than a broken flow. Write actions like sending an email pause for manual approval by default as a built-in safety layer, which is why clicking submit is required and why updating the action prompt does not change it.
To run it fully automatically, set the flow up on a schedule and enable the “Run with no confirmation” option in the schedule configuration. That lets the send email action execute without pausing for your approval.
Other community members came across the same situation and the steps I mentioned above seemed to have worked for them:
Also, I attached the official aws documentation regarding flows, if the above steps seem confusing or you need further clarification I would highly recommend giving this a read!
Hope this helps and feel free to keep us updated!
Hi, thanks a lot for your reply. It seems I do not have the option your mentioned. Clicking “next” leads me to a page that has no option to choose before then finalizing the trigger. Do you have any other idea? As mentioned, the Flow did not work as expected initially but at as of July 23 it started asking me for manual approval before sending the email. I even logged out from the Connector (Outlook) and re-authenticated but the issue persists. Thanks again.
Any feedback anybody?
@Eros.Santoni I also notice similar behavior when I hit ‘Next’ from the Set Trigger screen. It brings me to an ‘Inputs’ sub-step within step 2 with no options. But, if you hit Next again you should be brought to this screen (image 2) if you have actions within your flow which it sounds like you do with the email. You want to toggle on the ‘Run with no confirmation’ like mentioned above and that should send the email without requiring your manual confirmation
Are you able to provide a screenshot of the step where you have it send the email without revealing any sensitive information? Typically if you don’t see the second sub-step as an option it is because you may not have the proper action step in your flow for sending the email
Based on those images, I would expect to see the Action available under the Define Run step to Run without Confirmation. 2 things to try - 1. Delete the existing trigger and try creating a new one. Could be a case of the original trigger not picking up the action step properly. 2. Include the specific email address you want to send the email to in the prompt of the action step. I have a similar type of flow but with slack where in the prompt I direct it to 'send the following slack message to channel ‘xyz’: … ’ and when I created my trigger it ran and sent the message without requiring me to confirm it
Thank you. for #2 I already had the email added to the prompt itself (see below) and when the issue arose even added a statement to send the report without asking for a confirmation but did not fix the issue. I think it’s more related to AI behaviour as initially it was working as expected. Do you spot any other possible solutions besides deleting the action? I honestly would like to avoid further inconveniences with deleting steps.
Can you try deleting the existing trigger? And then create a new one. That was my suggestion for #1 - obviously understand not wanting to delete the action step but maybe something is broken in the trigger so deleting the trigger and creating a new trigger could help
