We are in the process of migrating servers. On my old server, I had a dataset in Amazon Quick Sight with incremental refresh enabled.

Now, I have created a new dataset connected to my new database. On the first load, it only pulls the latest data available in the new DB, but it does not include the historical SPICE data from the old dataset.

My question is:

  • Is there any way to export the SPICE data from my old dataset and import it into the new dataset?

  • Or is there an alternative approach to preserve and merge that old SPICE data with the new dataset?

Thank you for posting.

There is no direct way to export SPICE data from an old dataset and import it into a new dataset.

To preserve and merge historical SPICE data with your new dataset, you can keep your historical data in the database layer because SPICE data does not transfer or merge between datasets. Incremental refresh in Quick Sight only pulls data from the connected database and cannot get historical SPICE data from a previous dataset.
