Login Failed "Could not reach the user information service" after desktop update

Hi team,

After the latest Amazon Quick desktop update, I’m getting the error: “Login Failed: Could not reach the user information service”

What I’ve tried:

  • Added Amazon Quick to Windows Firewall (both Private & Public)
  • Added firewall rules for port 52005 (inbound & outbound)
  • Flushed DNS cache
  • Disabled Chrome extensions
  • Checked port 52005 — it’s NOT listening when the app tries OAuth callback

My setup:

  • Windows PC (Lenovo)
  • Amazon Quick desktop app (latest version)
  • App path: C:\Users\SANJAY R\AppData\Local\Programs\quickwork\Amazon Quick.exe
  • OAuth redirects to: http://127.0.0.1:52005/?code=
  • Web version works fine, only desktop app fails

Note: I saw another user (Tamuka_F_Machakaire) with the same issue posted on Jul 23. This seems to be a bug introduced in the latest update.

Please help! I need the desktop app working.

Thanks, Sabari

Hi @sabari.infotec,

Welcome to the Quick Community! That is definitely some interesting behavior, and I have seen other users report similar occurrences in regard to updating the application (or another relevant action regarding Quick Desktop).

I will make sure to keep this post marked as an error, but I would definitely recommend creating a support ticket with AWS Support, as they will better be able to guide you on why this is occurring.

Thank you!

Hi @WLS-Luis,

Thank you for the response and welcome!

I want to share additional details that confirm this is a widespread bug:

Key Finding: I tested this on 3 DIFFERENT laptops (all Windows) — same error on all of them. This confirms it’s not machine-specific.

App Version: 0.1000.2144 (Build 6488073045)

What happens:

  1. Click Sign in → Chrome opens
  2. Click Allow access
  3. Browser redirects to 127.0.0.1 with auth code
  4. Error: “Login Failed — Could not reach the user information service” (displayed as raw/plain HTML)

What I’ve tried (all failed):

  • Added app to Windows Firewall (Private & Public)
  • Added port rules (inbound & outbound)
  • Flushed DNS cache
  • Disabled Chrome extensions
  • Reinstalled the app
  • Tested on 3 different laptops — same result

Important: The web version works perfectly — only the desktop app is broken.

Question: I’m an individual user (not enterprise). How can I create a support ticket? I don’t have access to the AWS Support Console. Is there a direct link or alternative way for individual users to report critical bugs?

Could you please escalate this to the Amazon Quick desktop team?

Thanks,
Sabari

I get the same error, everything is the same as the OP, except I’m on a mac.

Here is my version:

Version 0.1000.2144
(Build 6488073045)

Edit:

I had a older downloaded image of quick,(Version 0.1000.1122 Build 6466626191) so I reinstalled that, was able to login again, still had all my chats, so thats good, now the question is, do I update?? hahahaha

Same version working??

Same version not updated working??

"Hi @Danie, could you please share the download link or installer file for Version 0.1000.1122? I don’t have the older version saved. Thanks

The one I have are an Apple install, so it’s a dmg file, that will unfortunately not work on windows.

Hi @sabari.infotec and @Danie,

Just wanted to check back in since this thread hasn’t received a reply in a while. Has the issue resolved itself for either of you after future updates since, or have you received any response from an AWS Support Ticket? Please help the community by following up in general within the next 3 business days!

Thank you!

This has been fixed in a quick desktop update
