Problem with conditional formatting in some calculated fields

Hello everyone!

I’m applying the automatic conditional formatting feature with a gradient to some calculated fields created in my data source, but some of them are not working. These are not complex calculations, and without the conditional formatting, the values are displayed normally in the pivot table.

When the formatting is applied, the following error is returned:

Thank you all for this collaborative space.

Hello @RodrigoCastro

That’s pretty interesting. Are you using SPICE or direct query for your dataset?

Also, have you tried recreating some of the calculated fields in the analysis and then trying the automatic conditional formatting?

Hey Duncan!

Today I changed my dataset to SPICE and the conditional formatting worked.

But, what’s the main difference between SPICE and direct for conditional formatting? Do you know?

I dont have idea kkk

Hello @RodrigoCastro

I’m really not sure why direct query caused that problem and I couldn’t find documentation either.

My best guess is that it adds to the query somehow and caused that time out error. I can mark this as a feature request to flag the Quick Sight team.

If you want to dig into it I would recommend creating an AWS support ticket. Here are the steps to open a support case. If your company has someone who manages your AWS account, you might not have direct access to AWS Support and will need to raise an internal ticket to your IT team or whomever manages your AWS account. They should be able to open an AWS Support case on your behalf.
