Quick Desktop Chat Delete Feature

Regarding the Quick Desktop Chat Delete feature, recently there was an update that changed from an easy and quick click process to a new confirmation window. the initial design was quick efficient and easy. why did you change this???

Hi @srigo

Welcome to the Quick community!

We appreciate your feedback and understand the change may feel like an extra step in your workflow.

The confirmation step was intentionally introduced as a safeguard against accidental deletion. Here’s the reasoning behind the change:

  1. Preventing accidental data loss: Conversations often contain valuable context, decisions, attached files, and important history. A single misclick (especially on trackpads or when scrolling quickly through the sidebar) could unintentionally remove a conversation you still need.
  2. Industry-standard UX for destructive actions: Irreversible or high-impact actions benefit from a brief confirmation step. This is a widely adopted design pattern to protect users from unintended consequences.
  3. Customer feedback: Prior to this change, we received reports from users who accidentally deleted conversations and lost important context.
  • The delete flow is still just two clicks (Delete → Confirm). It’s not a multi-step process.
  • Deleted conversations are recoverable for 7 days after deletion. If you accidentally delete a chat, simply ask Amazon Quick in any conversation: Restore my recently deleted chat and it will recover it for you.
  • After 7 days, the deletion becomes permanent.

I hope this helps! If you have any other questions or suggestions, feel free to reach out.

I appreciate your response, however I cannot agree that this is a good safeguard. You are building a desktop efficiency tool that needs to make things smooth and easy to improve productivity. The quick delete of a chat keeps the chat column clean and quick. If you accidently delete a chat then restore it, don’t make all of us have to change our quick work flow. This feature is so opposite of helpful and now its feel is clunky and time consuming

also, people who are deleting their chats accidently should be able to easily recover them. And the two clicks are now not the same, before it was two clicks and no scroll and it was so smooth and innovative. now it looks poorly and is time consuming

Hi @srigo

Thank you for the additional feedback!

You make a great point, making recovery easy is a better approach than adding friction to the delete action for everyone.

I’ve marked this as a feature request to promote visibility to the product team.
