Adding total number line to the line chart when color well is set

Hi team,

I have a line chart which is using color well to display multiple sub-lines of the value.
Now I also want to display a line of the total number (sum the sub lines).

I tried to drag the total number to value well but noticed that only one value is allowed when color well is set.

I’m very new to quicksight and really need some help here. Thanks!

Hi @lilsoup and welcome to the QuickSight community!
There’s no real good way to do this in QuickSight out of box unfortunately; I would say your best options in this scenario would be;

  • show them side by side
  • Add a KPI to show the total sales which can be placed closer to the visual (or overlapping if using ‘free-form’ layout.
  • The most ideal scenario though, would most likely be to edit your dataset to include a ‘total’ value option so that it will include in your visual for this type of instance.

The ability to add a ‘total’ line, much like being able to add a constant line, would be a nice addition though so I’ll mark this as a feature request to promote visibility to the AWS support team.
