Amazon Q in QuickSight (Q Topics) - Dev to Prod, RLS, and Logging

This is a multi-part question. Any insights here would be helpful!

  1. Is it possible to deploy topics across dev and prod environments using asset bundles (similar to how you can for dashboards and analyses)? Is there a json template for topics? If not, how would you suggest incorporating topics into a qs environment with these different stages?

  2. When getting an error related to a topic (ex. Topic failed to create), are there any logs that can explain why that error occurred (for the purpose of customer visibility and easier troubleshooting) ?

  3. If you have Redshift as a datasource and row-level permissions within Redshift, would the QuickSight topic honor those row-level permissions OR would they have to be configured as RLS within quicksight to control access?

Thank you for posting.

  1. It is not possible to deploy topics across different environments using asset bundles and there is no jsn templates for topics. Please see link here on how you can move topics within environment or accounts.

  2. To get more visibility, you can always open an AWS support ticket for this as there are no logs visible to you for this.

  3. It would have to be configured within Amazon Quicksight. See documentation here
