Analysis or dashboard as code

There has been discussion here about implementing Analysis or Dashboard as code but there doesn’t seem to be definitive answer. So asking again:

Is it somehow possible to define Analysis or Dashboard as a code in such way that it could be stored into version control outside QuickSight?

I went through the API but only thing I can find is template, which is not that useful as there doesn’t seem to be possibility to export the template itself as code or JSON. So it seems that the template content only exists inside QuickSight and cannot be exported or imported?

There has also been some discussion about beta API? Is that something that would solve this? Is there any roadmap when it could be available?
