I want to be able to do Athena queries in several different regions from Quick Sight. However, when setting up the dataset Quick Sight only shows data catalogue and databases from the region it was setup in. I’m not able to find any decent documentation for how to discover data catalogues and databases for Athena queries in multiple regions. How can we achieve this ?

you cannot connect Quick Sight to Athena in another region. Instead, you may use the Athena (in the same region with Quick Sight) to connect data source in another region. In your case, you need to create Athena and data catalog in the same region with Quick Sight
