AWS QuickSight small multiples bar chart – clicking one value affects other small multiples

I’m using a vertical bar chart with small multiples in AWS QuickSight.

When I click a bar in one small multiple, the other small multiples change and start showing the same values as the selected one, even though their underlying data is different.

I want each small multiple to retain its own values and not be affected when a value is selected in another small multiple.

Is this expected behavior in QuickSight?
If yes, what is the recommended way to avoid this and keep small multiples independent?

Hi @manirkandan2001 and welcome to the Quick Community!
In regards to expected/normal behavior that takes place in Quick Sight upon selection; normally when you select something within a visual (bar, line, etc.), that value will show as selected across all other visualizations while others get dimmed out.
So with small multiples, as it’s still using the same x-axis across all of the visualizations, you’re still working with same values. So when you select a value in one, it will select in the others.
Your scenario sounds a bit interesting though as you said the values are changing? Could you share a screenshot of your small multiples and some information about the fields you’re using in this scenario?

While there’s no feature that handles what gets selected upon clicking, you can adjust the overall visual highlighting option. If you go to Edit → Analysis Settings → down at the bottom under ‘Sheet Settings’ you can set interactivity to ‘no highlight’

Hi @manirkandan2001,
I tested this out in my environment and seem to be receiving the same type of response. To me this seems like some type of error/bug within the UI. I would suggest creating a support ticket to report this behavior to the support team.

Hi @manirkandan2001,

Just checking back in since we haven’t heard from you in a bit. Were you able to see Brett’s most recent reply and create a support ticket? If you still have any additional questions related to your initial post, please feel free to share them. Otherwise, any update you’re able to provide within the next 3 business days would be helpful for the community.

Thank you!
