Can view values in Data Prep, but reflecting as null in analysis

Hello, I have connected my data source to QS, and i can see the Values(Date value) under the column in the Data Prep or Preview page, However, when i publish and visualize, it is showing all the values as Null…

Please note that

  • It is not an calculated field,
  • It is date with Time and all the rows are filled none of the rows are empty.

Requesting some guidance as i’m not able to figure out a solution

Thanks,

Hello @qraniru kindly ensure that you granted access on QuickSight to your data location if its sitting in S3 or if you are uploading it from your local computer, then when you create a new analysis, select new dataset and then select the new data source, then click on Edit settings and prepare data, and then click on Publish and Visualize, then choose the visual type you want to use. This should solve your issue, please let me know if this helps. Thank you.

Hello,
thanks for writing :slightly_smiling_face:

the Data source is Sales force.

I can see other Columns generating the proper values, apart from the one mentioned in my Q…

Can you guide me further since the data is not stored in my local comp.

Hi @qraniru

This looks pretty strange. I do see your column in dataset rightly showing the date as the datatype. When you create an analysis the default setting in analysis in Convert Timezone = No which should mean what you see in the dataset is what you should see in analysis. The date column by default with be aggregated by Day.

Can you include other fields from your dataset into the table visualization and also see the aggregation for the date column and get down to a specific row and then probably can get some idea as to what is happening.

Hi @qraniru - Just to test the behavior, can yo change the data type to string and see whether you are able to see the data or not.

Regards - Sanjeeb

Hello Sanjeeb,
thanks for writing.

I tried changing the data type as string and refreshed the dataset and once i get into Analysis tab, the same problem persists…

So, not working.

Hello Giridhar,
Thanks a lot for giving your insights,
I tried the aggregate part, it is still showing Null

Would you be able to provide the details in Arena, so it can be checked?

Here’s the link to how you can share you case in Arena

Hello Giridhar,

Thanks for writing. But i’m unable to upload the file in CSV format. It says invalid file type

I’ve tried uploading CSV file . But still it is not accepting and would prompt me that it is not a CSV file…
