Change name of account

Hello, when I went to create the quicksight account accidentally I put my name and now I want to change and put the company name. How do I do it? Remembering that I have many dashboards, datasources and analyzes already in this account. Can someone help me?

Hi @Alcebiades - I am doubtful whether you can change your account name, can you please raise a ticket to AWS Customer support team and request for the same , the link to raise the request is : Creating support cases and case management - AWS Support.

@Sanjeeb2022 is correct - you cannot change the account name after creation. It is pretty deeply rooted in the configuration. Unfortunately you would have to create a new account or unsub/resubscribe to change the name. Potentially support can help with changing an existing account name but Im not 100% sure if it is possible.

did the aws support solved the problem of changin the name?

We raised a query with AWS last week. The response was that it is not possible to change the account name once it has been created.

Thank you, hopefully they will have this as a feature soon. it is so important!
I find really stupid that if you want to change the account name you have to delete the whole account :expressionless:

We had a company merger - so an account name change would be really helpful

Hi @BFJonk

The workaround we thought of is to create a new account and move all assets to the new account. Then retire the old account post move.

We haven’t ventured doing this yet due to the effort involved and understanding the implications if things go wrong. I don’t have much expertize using the API/CLI for QuickSight which can do this kind of thing on scale.

Ideally, something like this should be supported as an out of the box solution.
