Conditional Formatting

I have a dashboard created using pivot table formatting. It has Sample, Error and Error ratio calculation on rows and week, month, quarter calculation on columns and show total for columns is checked.

Now I have 2 different targets for error ratio which is at Worldwide level and Node wise level. Both the targets are different. Also, these targets changes every quarter.

When I try to conditional format as per Worldwide target be it green/red above a certain number let’s assume 1000, my node wise target are reflecting on the basis of worldwide target which isn’t correct. Also, quarter wise target changes is another challenge that I’m facing. Is there a way to fix this?

Hi @Mohseen_Alam_Khan

if you are trying to compare the actual vs target columns, you probably need to create a calculated field first that finds the difference, and then base your conditional formatting based on the calculated field.

Could you please refer to this community post for additional details .

Hope this helps … it would be helpful if you could share screenshot of issue / create a sample pivot visual in Arena for us to check further.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply, I will try this and get back!

Hi there,

This article doesn’t solve my problem! Can you please advise further?

Hello @Mohseen_Alam_Khan, you will likely need to use LAC-W functions to determine the value that you are comparing both the WorldWide level and Node wise levels for the conditional formatting.

I don’t totally understand your use case, but you will need to compare both levels to a different value. In the conditional formatting you can compare it to a specific value so you just need to determine the world wide or node wise values to compare.

WorldWideCompare = sumOver({value}, [{world}], PRE_AGG)
NodeWiseCompare = sumOver({value}, [{Node}], PRE_AGG)

These calculated fields would let you partition the value that you want to compare in the conditional formatting to show if they reach the target or not. I will mark this as the solution, but if you have any further questions on this, please post a new topic in the community and link to this question. That will ensure you are at the top of the priority list for a response from one of our QuickSight experts. Thank you!
