Connecting QuickSight to MySQL Database on EC2 in a Different AWS Account

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to connect Amazon QuickSight to a MySQL database that is hosted on an EC2 instance. The challenge is that the QuickSight author is in a different AWS account than the EC2 instance hosting the database.

Has anyone set up something similar? I’m trying to understand:

  • What are the possible approaches to make this connection work across AWS accounts?
  • What are the critical aspects or potential issues I should be aware of (e.g., security, networking, permissions)?
  • What information do I need to collect about the EC2 instance and the database to move forward?

At the moment, I don’t have more technical details about the database or EC2 configuration, but any advice on what I should ask or verify with the team managing that infrastructure would be super helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Hello @gigidam , welcome to the QuickSight community!

I would recommend following the steps laid out in this doc if you haven’t done so already:
