Continuous vs discrete shade for the "color by" feature for map charts

Hi All,

I am trying to color points on a map by a certain dimension (say the speed of a ship along its route). However, the color range automatically uses discrete values of this dimension, which results in a “one value = one color” . There is no continuous shade from a color to another with respect to the ship’s speed. The feature seems to be working with tree maps but not in map plots.

Is it an expected feature, or am I missing something ?

You can do something like this with a filled map however you need certain geolocation.

There is no way to accomplish what you are looking for in the points on map charts as of now. I will mark this as a feature request as that sounds very interesting.
