Copy sample dashboards

I want to embed some sample dashboards in our application. To save time, is there a way I can copy the dashboards from the Demo Central site and embed them in my application?

Hi @CoreyLeichty - Thanks for the question. The demo central sessions are available for 60 mins, not sure whether you can take the URL for demo central and embedded in your application. By saying that, you can give a try and explore this.

I would like something more permanent. I would like to load some sample dashboards into our account. Would the new Arena help me in any way?

You can get to the definition of DemoCentral dashboards using following steps.

  1. Click the analysis icon while on dashboard view.
  2. Click the code editor icon
  3. Copy out the definition (See screen shot below).
    To use this definition on your own account, you will need to have corresponding datasets.
    You can bring all fields from required datasets into a table (while in analysis view) and export data from there as csv/excel. Then, use it to create dataset at your end and update the definition accordingly.

DemoCentral gives you an hour long temp session. Anything you change or create will be wiped out once that session expires. Arena is persistent. You are identified based on your Community login and the resources you create will still be there on your next login.

Thanks for the help! After copying the dashboard definition in step 3, I don’t understand how to create a new analysis from that. Do you have any additional steps for that?

You would have to use the QuickSight APIs to create a new analysis or dashboard from the definition you exported.

Currently, we support embedding within Community site only. You can include the Community link in external forums as a link and readers will be able to access it anonymously(without signing into Community).
