Custom Colour Input

I have noticed recently that the entering a custom colour can be hit or miss.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Here is what I am talking about:

  1. I create a line chart
  2. I click on the series I want to change to a custom hex code and click on create custom colour
  3. The custom colour palette appears
  4. I try to enter my hex code and it is not event an option.

I have also tried:

  • logging in and out of the aws console
  • closing down my analysis and opening back up (which sometimes works)
  • Trying deleting visual and starting from scratch (which does not always work)

This behaviour is intermittent and I really not sure how to rectify.

Any thoughts?

Here is a picture. The small input box for the hex code does not allow this functionality.

And here is an excruciatingly painful work around.

It only appears to be happening on line charts.

Fix:

  • filter time series to the latest date and change chart type to bar.
  • Enter hex codes on bar chart and it works just fine
  • change chart type back to line chart
  • unfilter date

Not pretty. Still interested to hear if this is a bug or it is me.

I am able to reproduce the same behavior , have notified QuickSight engineering team to take a look at it.
