I have created a analysis and dashboard with a timestrem datasource. I have verified that the measurement data in timestream has several decimal places. However, when the data gets displayed in QuickSight it is rounding it down to the nearest whole number. I have verified that the data column in QS is set to at least 2 decimal places. I have also tried assigning the data to a calculated field and that didn’t work either. Has anyone run into this issue before?
Thanks in advance.
Hi @Mark_Albert and welcome to the QuickSight community!
If you go in to the datasets section and edit, what type of format is your field in; integer or decimal?
When mentioning that you verified the data column is set to 2 decimals places, did you do that at the dataset or anaylsis level?
Thanks for the quick response. I checked the dataset section and it is set to decimal. I also verified at the analysis level that the measurement field is formatted for two decimal places. I can only insert one image per post right now so I decided to upload the one that shows the data in the dataset. In analysis it shows them as whole numbers even though I have the field formatted for two decimal places.
Hi @Mark_Albert,
This is an interesting case, especially since your dataset in QuickSight is showing the decimal values. I would suggest creating a support ticket so that you can get more direct assistance from the AWS support team!
Just in case someone else runs into the same issue. The solution was to go to the dataset section click edit and then click Publish and Visualize in the top right hand corner. This will create a new analyses but if you go back to your original analyses and refresh it the data should appear correctly. AWS support couldn’t tell me why this happened or why this fixed it but it did. Hope this helps.
