I replaced the dataset in my QuickSight dashboard. The new dataset has an additional data field and a few renamed columns. Immediately after completing the swap, I started experiencing an unexpected error.
My dashboard’s visual configurations have been disrupted, particularly in the map visual where the geographical hierarchy has been reduced to a single geographic field. Other dashboard features also seem to be impacted.
I’m seeking guidance on how to resolve these dataset replacement issues and restore the dashboard’s original configurations. What troubleshooting steps would you recommend?
This error mostly appears where the same analysis is accessed concurrently from 2 different QuickSight sessions. If you are sure nobody else is accessing the analysis, check if you have another QuickSight session running with access to this analysis.
For the other highlighted changes and error, post replacing the dataset, since you have few columns renamed, did you map these columns and ensure they have the same datatype, along with geolocation hierarchy if any?
Thank you for your previous guidance. After a thorough reexamination, I’m still experiencing the same issue. I’ve confirmed that neither the analysis nor the dataset is currently in use by another account. Upon deeper investigation, I’ve identified that the problem is specifically related to the Geographical map visual, which utilizes a hierarchy in the Geospatial well.
When I attempt to swap datasets, the Geographic map visual becomes unresponsive and prevents any modifications—including adding, replacing, or removing fields. In fact, I cannot even edit or remove the visual itself. Notably, all other visuals on the dashboard (such as tables, pivot tables, and donut charts) are functioning normally.
As a temporary solution, I developed a workaround: I created a backup of the analysis, removed the Geo map visual first, successfully swapped the datasets, and then reintegrated the visual.
