description when the user hovers over the KPI visual?

What type of description are you looking for? To my knowledge, there isn’t an info icon that can be applied like you can in filters.
Depending on your desired outcome though there may be a workaround. Do you want something more like the tool tip, or something that defines the data summary? I would suggest maybe checking insights.

Thanks for your response. Our requirement is to have all KPI visuals in the first screen /sheet. We have active cases in x, active cases in Y , active clients in X , active clients in Y ., Payments in X, etc.
I want to know if when the user is on a certain visual/KPI , can we have a short description(customized) of the metric (similar to a tooltip) ??
preferably a description in place of the number(in white box).

An out of the box solution doesn’t exist, but I think the solution @ErikG mentioned above will get you pretty close as a workaround!
I can mark this as a feature request for the Quicksight team!
Thank you @ErikG learnt something new unfortunately thats not what we are looking for at the moment.
