Disabling interactions between other visuals and Insights

I am using an insights visual to display top and bottom ranked states based on the sum of the sales for the selected period and would like to remove the interaction between this visual and others on my dashboard but can not seem to find a solution. For example, I have a bar chart that displays total sales for each state and when I select a state from this bar chart, the Top and Bottom insight visuals get filtered to only show the state I selected. With this insights visual that does not really make much sense as when you only have 1 state selected there isn’t technically a top or bottom, it would be more beneficial to leave the Top and Bottom 3 based on the whole dataset when selecting a state from another visual. Does anyone know of a way to work around this?

Hello @mbradley

Welcome to the QuickSight Community!

To stop the interaction between the Insights visual and other visuals in your dashboard, follow these steps

Turn Off Visual Interaction:

  • Go to the Analysis view of your dashboard.
  • Click on the Bar Chart (or any other visual) that is causing the filtering issue.
  • In the visual menu (top-right corner of the visual), select Interactions > Edit Actions.
  • You will see lines connecting visuals to indicate interaction links. Delete the interaction between the bar chart and the insights visual by clicking on the connecting line between them.
  • Once the action is deleted, selecting a state in the bar chart will no longer filter the Top and Bottom insights visual.
  • Insights visual will continue to display the top and bottom 3 states based on the whole dataset, regardless of any selections made in other visuals.
