Dynamic Date in Column Header (parameter tied to another parameter)

Hello Team!

I have a table that has three measure columns, one for each last month. The column header is a dynamic date based on parameter (start of relative last 1,2 and 3 month). This table is tied to today’s date.

So today’s Feb 04 2026
Start of month 1 - Feb 01 2026
Start of month 2 - Jan 01 2026
Start of month 3 - Dec 01 2025

My client wants to select the current date (i.e. to look in the past, into Sep-Aug-Jul, Mar-Feb-Jan etc, I want to create another parameter for that to control the values in columns). Is there a way I can keep the dates in headers in this setup? With they way this table needs to look (additional measure columns apart from months) I can’t use pivot, I think.

I can’t control the value of the parameter based on another parameter (date selected by the user), this can only be tied to today’s date, so I don’t see a way to do it. Could somebody advise?

Example:
Client selected Sep 03 2025

Start of Month 1 - Sep 01 2025
Start of Month 2 - Aug 01 2025
Start of Month 3 - Jul 01 2025

Dynamic Column Headers

Thanks!

Hi @Bartosz and welcome to the Quick Community!
This is indeed a bit of a limitation when dealing with tables in QuickSight; and unfortunately there’s not really a great work around that can be utilized in place.
As you’ve seen through testing I’m sure, the only way to dynamically change your headers would be through the use of parameters. Currently there’s no way to set assign a parameter value through another parameter in such a way that it can be incremental based on your first parameter’s selection.
The ability to have more customization over headers (especially in scenarios regarding table visuals) would be extremely useful so I’ll go ahead and mark this as a feature request to promote visibility to the support team.
