I just would like clarification on how this process works. Our company embeds Quicksight and our clients would like to start scheduling reports. The issue they are running into is the email gets sent put when prompted to click the dashboard, they do not have passwords, just usernames so they can not open the report. They just use our embedded tool and are logged in when the start our software, Is there a way to get them passwords? or is this something I Need to talk to our IT team based on embedded permissions?
@aaron000000001 I am assuming that QuickSight dashboard is embedded using registered user embedding approach. when federating user in QuickSight using register-user api, confirm if the identity-type attribute is QUICKSIGHT or IAM. If QUICKSIGHT, change that to IAM. When a user with QUICKSIGHT identity type is created, QuickSight is expecting that user to login and validate the account. In your use case you are federating users in QuickSight, so create users with “IAM” identity type when calling register-user api.
Please confirm if this helped in resolving your issue by marking this response as solution.
You can customize the email template to take the user to the application where the dashboard is embedded instead of taking them to QuickSight.
You can find this option by going to Manage QuickSight > Account Customization.
Thanks a lot David! This should help our problems!
@David_Wong - does this email template customization support multiple applications?
We are embedded quicksight across multiple SaaS applications and would like to enable our embedded users to be able to schedule reports/data exports, however we’d need the ability to configure a custom application link that should be used at the dashboard level.
From the screenshot you show, it looks like it only allows you to configure a link to one custom application for all dashboards.
Hi @bkasen,
No, it doesn’t support multiple applications. I actually submitted a feature request for that earlier this year.
I would suggest submitting another feature request to give it more visibility.
