Embedding free-form dashboard does not work

Hello all,

We are embedding a QS dashboard within our application. Due to a request for localizing number formats, we tried to change the layout from tiled to free-form and create duplicated widgets that are hidden based on a parameter passed to the dashboard that defines the localization.

This works fine within QS but when embedding the dashboard, I get an infinite spinner. Is there anything we have to consider when embedding a free-form layout dashboard?

Thank you very much in advance,

Thomas

Hi @ThomasS,

Hope everything is well! That is definitely an interesting error as embedding should work for free-form as well. In terms of the buffering that you are seeing, it is happening to just the duplicated widgets or all of your visuals in general?

Thank you!

Hi @WLS-Luis ,

We don’t see any widgets…

We use this SDK: https://www.npmjs.com/package/amazon-quicksight-embedding-sdk

For more details: Our dashboard has 2 tabs mostly showing HighCharts visuals and a few tables. As mentioned before, we tried to localize the tables by using free-form and hiding all but the “correct” ones. When publishing the free-form version, we ran into this issue. We first reverted to an old dashboard version which worked fine. Then, we published a first POC that I did to check if this idea of free-form and hiding tables via parameters works at all [it does within QS as expected]. This also led to an infinite spinner after publishing [still working in QS but not in the embedding]. This POC dashboard had 5 pivot tables, 1 highchart visual and a control to set a parameter. We then changed the free-form back to tiled, published and saw that the dashboard loaded as expected in the embedding.

Thanks again,

Thomas

Hi @ThomasS,

To my knowledge I do not believe there should be any limitations when it comes to embedding free-form dashboards. I would definitely recommend creating a support ticket with AWS Support, as they may be able to provide better guidance as to why this is occurring for your use case.

Thank you!

Hi @ThomasS,

Just checking back in to see if you were able to create a support ticket and/or find a solution yourself in the meantime. Please help the community by marking this answer as “Solution” or following up in general within the next 3 business days!
