Errors while importing visual that is hide by default

Hello everyone!

I’m currently trying out the new Beta Import functionality in QuickSight and encountered an issue. I attempted to import a visual from an analysis located in a folder owned by a user group I’m part of. The visual is hidden by default and has a showing rule based on a parameter value. When I clicked the “import” button, I received an error message saying “Insufficient permissions on one or more datasets.” I double-checked and confirmed that I had permissions for all datasets involved.

To troubleshoot, I created an exact copy of the analysis using “Save as analysis” and tried importing the visual from this copy. However, I received a different error: “Can’t complete import.” Also, I tried a different solution and I added myself directly as an owner of the original analysis (beside the fact that I’m a member of a group that own it). I also received error message “Can’t complete import.” in this case.
I then went back to the copy of the analysis and deleted the hiding rule, which allowed me to successfully import the visual.

Does anyone know how to import a visual with hiding rules without deleting them? Also, any ideas why I received an “Insufficient permissions” error even though I had the necessary permissions?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi @helseslo , thank you for letting us know. I would recommend filing a case with AWS Support where we can dive into the details so that we can help you further. Here are the steps to open a support case. If your company has someone who manages your AWS account, you might not have direct access to AWS Support and will need to raise an internal ticket to your IT team or whomever manages your AWS account. They should be able to open an AWS Support case on your behalf. Hope this helps!
