Feature Request - Where is a field used

Hi I would very very much like to have the ability to see where a field is used in other calculated fields, other datasets, filters and visuals)

For instance, I might want to delete a field that is used elsewhere.
this will result in an error but will not direct me towards the specific fields that are broken.
Also, I might have a visual that I don’t check often yet I wouldn’t want to leave it broken until I do.

Another use case is that I want to edit a field to better suit my needs but it might have a major side effect if it is used somewhere else without me knowing, if I could see who and where it is used I could communicate the change or decide to create another field instead.

I agree, this would be very helpful. Currently, there’s no great way to accomplish this so I’ll go ahead and mark this as a feature request to provide further visibility to the AWS support team.

Thanks, how do you see the chances of it making into the roadmap?
Asking so I know if I should develop a workaround on my own

@shahaf checkout QuickSight Power Tools … It does a lot of what you are looking for (dependency chain, listing/searching all calculated fields). It’s also open source, it would be awesome if your could merge whatever workaround you come up with!

While I cannot provide a clear status on what the roadmap entails and timing that may come along with it, but you can always keep an eye on the ‘What’s New’ section for updates being made.
