I have a filled map visual that displays customer count by zip code. Last week the visual worked fine but today the map does not display any data. If I change the visual to the points on map visual, the counts are displayed. If I change back to the filled map and substitute the state for the zip code, the filled map visual works. I’ve checked all the data connections and queries and everything works as it should. Is anyone else having issues with the filled map visual?
@clay.cooper I haven’t experienced the issue but you can try out this steps to see if it helps to resolve it.
- Data Granularity: Check if the data granularity for zip codes has changed or if there are any new zip codes not covered in the map’s configuration. Make sure that the zip code data is accurate and formatted correctly.
- Data Coverage: Ensure that your data set includes all the necessary zip codes. Sometimes, if a zip code has no associated data or if there’s a discrepancy in the data source, it might cause issues with the filled map.
- Map Configuration: Review the map’s settings to ensure that the zip code field is correctly assigned and recognized by the visual. Verify that the filled map visual is configured to use the zip code field as the geographic identifier.
- Map Service Updates : If there is an update, its map services or underlying geographic data, this might affect how zip codes are rendered. Check the QuickSignt documentation for any recent changes.
- Data Formatting: Confirm that the zip codes are in a consistent format. Sometimes, leading zeros or inconsistent formatting can affect map visuals.
- Browser Cache/Cookies: Clear your browser’s cache or try accessing the visual from a different browser or device to rule out any caching issues.
- Updates or Bugs: Check if there have been any recent updates or known bugs related to the filled map visual. Sometimes, visual components can have temporary issues due to updates or bugs.
- Recreate the Visual: As a last resort, try recreating the filled map visual from scratch. Sometimes, visual elements can become corrupted or misconfigured, and rebuilding them can resolve the issue.
let me know how this goes.
I’ve checked the data and there are no issues with the data types or formatting. The zip code field works in the points on map. Likewise, I’ve created the data connections, queries, and visuals to check for errors. It seems to be specific to the filled map and the zip code format, since other columns such as state work in the visual. It seems to be a bug or update with the visual but I haven’t located any documentation on the visual being updated.
I’m having the same issue with filled maps that worked last week, but do not work today. My filled maps are rendering by zip code ok, but not by county with a county/state hierarchy. Point maps work just fine, but not the filled map by county. I have recreated visuals, cleared cache, etc. and have just submitted a support ticket to AWS as this is mission critical for my org.
I went back into my dashboard this afternoon and the visual is working properly. Not sure what the issue was.
Hi @clay.cooper,
Since you mentioned that your visual is working properly, I’ll go ahead and close out this topic. However, if you have any additional questions, feel free to create a new topic in the community and link this discussion for any relevant information that may be needed.
Thank you!
