Filter shows "no data" after pressing "apply"

I added a new filter to a specific visual.
Filter should include “all” by default. When pressing “apply” button, visual shows no data as nothing is included in the filter selection.

When you get the warning “The field has too many distinct values. Search for a value below”, you are not able to select all the values. When you choose apply, there are no values selected as you see in the filter and therefore the visual shows no data.

The users will have to go and search for relevant values on the filter and then select the relevant ones. If the list of relevant ones is less than 1000 then the user of the dashboard will be able to select them all.

So in order to reduce this “too many…” issue, I would like that filter will show only relevant values according to other filters, but i’m not allowed to
