Help required for geospatial map interaction actions

Hello,

I have created a geospatial map (Points on map).

There is no size (since I do not need it) and the Colour is using the dimension “status”.

There are two statuses, either Healthy or Unhealthy.

This will give me either GREEN or RED respectively (see below):

I want to create an interactive action, such that when I click on the point, it will NAVIGATE it to another tab, filtered.

This action has to filter based on “site_name”, using the parameter “Site”. I can’t add site_name to my Colour as this will remove my “status”. Is there a workaround solution such that I can maintain my geospatial map with Healthy and Unhealthy, and also let me navigate to another tab when I click on the point (with the correct site)?

Hi @dixerio,

Have you tried using a navigation action with a parameter and then applying a filter (using the parameter) on the target sheet?

I’ve built an example below:

The action is configured to use a Parameter called “Country” that takes on the value of Country from the clicked data point:

Then on my target sheet I have a filter for the Country field that uses the parameter value:

Let me know if this helps you arrive at a solution.

Many Thanks,
Andrew

Hi @abacon

Thanks for replying.

The example you provided works because “Country” could be selected when you set up the Parameter action?

In my case, my Geospatial is a LAT and LONG data, and Colour is “status”. The “site_name” is a dimension made up of string of name, which already has a parameter called “Site”. But I can’t use this “Site” field in the parameter action since “site_name” is not in the geospatial visual (“status” is used instead to create the Healthy and Unhealthy points).

Ideally what I want use to show the points using “site_name”, but colour it by “status”

Hi @dixerio,
You would need to account for the location somewhere in your visual to setup a navigation action for it.
What if you tried adding location as well to color like my example below:

Place your locations in the section where I put ‘Name’ and then you can add ‘status’ below it. Since you only have 2 statuses, you can add red and green respectively to each so that you still only have 2 colors on your visual. Then you’ll be able to use your location for navigation.

Let me know if you have any questions or if this works for your case.

If we do not hear back within the next 3 business days, I’ll close out this topic.

Thank you!

Hi @Brett

What do you mean by “you can add red and green respectively to each so that you still only have 2 colors on your visual”?

How do I add the colours based on my column called “status” with “HEALTHY” and “UNHEALTHY”?

By putting “location” at the top, i would have alot of different colours for each location.

Hi @dixerio,
Correct and apologies, disregard my last suggestion. To utilize the setup suggested by Andrew, have you tried using your country field in the ‘size’ section so that it can be picked up in the navigation action?
That may be the only work around for a scenario where you’re utilizing the Lat, Long lines for your geospatial fields without creating an ifelse statment for all lat/long - country options.

Hi @dixerio,
It’s been awhile since we last heard from you, did you have any additional questions regarding your initial post or were you able to find a work around?

If we do not hear back within the next 3 business days, I’ll close out this topic.

Thank you!
