Hi team,
I have a combo chart (bar+line) for which I have created 2 Parameters MetricBar, MetricLine which users can select and the selected metrics populate in the visual. How can I change the legend name to show the selected name of the parameter instead of metric1,Metric2?
I have a calculated field with ifelse statement to populate the selected metric from dropdown.
metric1, Metric2 are calculated fields corresponding to MetricBar, MetricLine parameters.
Hi @Rishita_Chebrolu,
Unfortunately there is currently no way to alter the Legend text in QuickSight.
At AWS, our roadmap is primarily driven by our customers, your feedback helps us build a
better service. I agree this would be a very nice addition so I have tagged this as a feature request to provide further visibility to our support team!
Hi @Rishita_Chebrolu,
While there’s really no work around that can allow you to edit or change the legend itself;
I suppose you could potentially turn off the legend, then add in a text box that dynamically shows the parameter value(s).
If you setup your sheet in free-form layout, you can layer the text box on top of your visual and hide the background and border of the text box so that it looks like it’s part of the visual.
If not using free form, maybe just add your visual’s title to the text box along with the parameter values acting as a legend, and then place at the top of your visual so that it looks like it’s part of it.
Let me know if this works for your case or if you have any additional questions!
Hi @Rishita_Chebrolu,
Good question; if you are able to use an image, that could work but also could add a number of additional steps so understandably not ideal. Maybe you could change the font colors to match and bold them so that it’s more prominent.
Since it’s a work around for a limitation, the outcome may not be the most ideal but I’ve added as a feature request. You can keep an eye on the ‘What’s New’ tab for changes made to the roadmap!
Hi @Rishita_Chebrolu,
Since we haven’t heard back, I’ll close out this topic. However, if you have any additional questions, feel free to create a new post in the community and link this discussion for relevant information if needed.
