How can I shrink the size of filter control?

I am trying to preserve space on the dashboard and only want the filter buttons to take up a limited amount of space. Is there a way to condense the size of the filter control button? (see picture)

You can consider pinning filter controls to the top. That way they will be displayed in a collapsable area.
In some situations intent of the filter is clear and you can hide title to save space.
