Hi everyone. I am a new AWS quicksight user. I have an AWS IAM Admin user and a Quicksight Admin user. But as an admin I can’t see which dashboard has been created. Also someone has enabled amazon Q (I can see from cost explorer) but I can’t see which dashboard it has been enabled for. How do I do this?
Hi @karen_kostanyan and welcome to the QuickSight community!
Unfortunately, QuickSight does not provide a great out of the box solution for a ‘catch all’ information guide that can be used by admins. But there are a couple work arounds that can piece together this information.
- You can explore the ‘list-dashboards’ CLI and ‘describe-dashboard-permissions’ CLI; these should help you determine who the owner of a given dashboard is.
- In terms of finding out who created a Q topic; there have been some questions on the community in the past as there’s no easy out of the box option in QuickSight’s UI to complete.
I believe that you can locate this information through the CloudTrail logs, here is a past topic that discussed a similar scenario and there was a suggestion regarding the use of CloudTrail.
Overall, I think it would be a nice addition for QS to include an overview option where this information is easy to locate so I’ll mark this as a feature request for the support team to see.
Let us know if you have any additional questions.
Thank you!
Hi @karen_kostanyan, this is likely our new dashboard Q&A capability. Turn on the Dashboard Q&A experience in Amazon QuickSight - Amazon QuickSight
You can use this guide for managing Amazon Q. Opting out of Amazon Q in QuickSight - Amazon QuickSight
As Brett mentions we do have APIs for these things, including for Q topics (list-topics
). The CLI doc is linked here: ListTopics - Amazon QuickSight
QuickSight also has “Manage assets” in the admin console. Q topics are not currently supported, but you’ll be able to find your dashboards.
