How to Edit a Dashboard using Tag Base Rules?

Hi All,
I need to edit a dashboard that is using Tag Base Rules (Row-Level-Security). But, once we implemented the security, we lost sight of the data.
The only way to view data is through the embedded application which is fine for the end users. However, as the dashboard author I need to be able to add new graphs and filter. But, if I can’t access the data how can I be certain that the new filters or graphs are working as expected?

Hello @roberte!

Were you the user that set up the RLS or was it another person on your team? I’m curious if maybe the user who created the RLS restricted your access when they crate the rules.

I created the RLS rules.
I can see the data in the dataset, but not in the analysis.

Hey @roberte !

Can you show an anonymized photo of what you see when you open your analysis? Are you seeing none of your data in the analysis view in Quicksight?

Hi Duncan,

We opened a case with AWS support and with their help were able to successfully resolve the issue. Here is what we had to do resolve the issue.

Implement Tag-based rules.
Implement User-based rules.

If you only implement Tag-based rules, you will lose access to the data.
