How to enable 'Save As Analysis' for an Enterprise account for all the published dashboards?

Hi Team,

Currently, users need to learn from the existing QS dashboards to understand how a dashboard is built, including the fields, filters, and datasets used. However, this is only possible by having access to the analysis version of the published dashboards. With the current settings in the QS account, users have to communicate with the owners and request access to each dashboard individually.

The question is whether it is possible to enable the “Save as Analysis” feature pragmatically for all the published dashboards in the Shared folder, instead of relying on individual owners to enable this feature for their respective dashboards?

By enabling the “Save as Analysis” feature for all published dashboards in the Shared folder, users would have the ability to create an analysis version of any dashboard without needing to request access from the respective owners. This would streamline the process of learning from existing dashboards and facilitate a more efficient workflow.

Thanks!

Hi @saljain,
Unfortunately I do not believe there is currently a feature that can enable this directly as it links to security measures. Take a look at this link, you may be able to create a shared folder and add your users as contributors. This may give them the ability to edit dashboards and save them as analysis without asking for permissions.

I agree with your points on how this could be a helpful learning tool for teams though so I’ll go ahead and mark as a feature request!

Thanks for your reply Brett!
There 30+ users who need access to analysis version of the dashboard and even if we add those users as owners to the folder. Can you please tell if the dashboard owner still need to enable Save as Analysis at the dashboard level? or the folder permission supersedes the dashboard level permission even if the dashboard owner doesn’t enable save as analysis?

Hi @saljain,
Ok, I was just able to test out some things regarding this. It seems like if the original owner of a dashboard, shares that dashboard with another user and makes them a ‘co-owner’, they would then have the ability to save as an analysis (provided that they also have access to the datasets being utilized in that dashboard). Unfortunately, I’m unsure on if you have the ability to add a co-owner to a folder and if that would then allow them to save as for all dashboards in that folder.
But, as mentioned above, I’ll leave this as a feature request for visibility!
