How to manage quicksight dashboard access

Hi Team,

I am an internal QuickSight user at AWS. Our team has created a dashboard specifically for a group of sales managers. We have implemented RLS using our own dataset to manage data access. Currently, we are utilizing ANT group to manage dashboard access; however, the current ANT group logic can not fully meet our requirements.

Are there any alternative approaches available to manage dashboard access more effectively. Is it possible for us to develop and implement our own custom logic for access control?

I would greatly appreciate any insights or recommendations you can provide on this matter. I’m also open to scheduling a call to discuss further if needed.

Thank you,
Cindy

Hi @Cindy ,

Yes, there are other alternatives to manage dashboard access:

  1. IAM to manage access to Quicksight - instead of using ANT groups, you can define IAM-based policies to control access to Quicksight.
  2. Custom Access Control for RLS - You can create a RLS dataset in Quicksight which you can define granular access with. Here is documentation on how to do so.

Let me know if this helps!

Thanks for your reply. We have created RLS dataset to restrict the dataset access on quicksight. I was asking about dashboard access. Are there any ways to create our own logic to grant dashbaord access?

Got it! Sorry for the confusion, in that case the easiest way to use custom logic to grant dashboard access would be to use IAM Role-Based Access Control for the dashboards.

Using IAM with Quicksight
