How to setup a time range

Can anybody help me to set the start and end times for a given day?

I need to set the start time as 00:00 and end time as 23:59 for a selected day.

Hi @PandaDH ,
It is very simple just go to the your Date Filter section and select the Time Granularity & then select the Minute as Time Granularity.

Do this same process for both Start Time & End Time.

Thanks for the reply @Biswajit_1993 . Even I select the Minute granularity, it asks to Start date and End Dates. Can you please explain further.

Hi @PandaDH ,
OK no issues for this you need to follow some steps.

Step - 1

you need to create two DateTime parameter and on the filter section put the Date field and select the filter type as Date Time Range and condition as Between.

Put both Start Date parameter and End Date Parameter as picture below.

Step -2

Then go to parameter section and select both parameter as parameter control on the analysis

Step -3

Then go to Start Date parameter control and set the time as 12:00:00

In the same ways you can set the time for the End Date Parameter

Note - On both the parameter I have selected today as the default date you can change the date as per your choice so that you can get your desired result.

Thanks @Biswajit_1993 it works. However I use a slider to define the time slot duration as follows.

When I select time duration as 176 (as an example) report gets as follows.

As you can see the first row is not staring from 0:00 insted it goes to previous day 21:20. Also last row End Time goes to next day.

However, for dynamic minutes of 1, 5, 10, 15, ā€¦ 1440 it shows correctly (starts from 0:00 and ends 23:59).

Can you please help me to fix this issue.

Hi @PandaDH ,
Just to confirm one thing from your sides like for this scenarios how many date field you have like you have two date field one is for Start Date and another is End Date or you have only one Date Field?

Hi @Biswajit_1993, I only have one Date feild.
User should be able to select a required Date, required time range within that date and required time slot duration (dynamic minutes) within that time range.

Thanks.

Hi @PandaDH, I am not sure I fully understand your requirement. Can you share sample data and mock up of what you are trying to achieve here? It looks like you have one date column and you want to dynamically add/subtract minutes from that date? If you are able to mock up something it will help for better understanding.

Hi @Karthikeyan_Kalimuth, to explain my problem Iā€™m using the below sample dataset.

SLOT_MINUTE CHANNEL_NAME User_ID
08/05/2023 12:02 PM A 001
08/05/2023 12:03 PM A 001
08/05/2023 12:04 PM A 001
09/05/2023 12:05 AM A 001
09/05/2023 12:33 AM A 001
09/05/2023 12:34 AM A 001
09/05/2023 12:35 AM A 001
09/05/2023 12:36 AM A 001
09/05/2023 12:37 AM A 001
09/05/2023 6:14 AM A 001
09/05/2023 6:14 AM A 001
09/05/2023 6:15 AM A 001
09/05/2023 6:15 AM A 001

As you can see this has User_ID (001) Channel viewing for Channel ā€˜Aā€™ by day and minute level (SLOT_MINUTE).

Likewise, there are many users and their channel viewing of many channels are there at day_minute level.

From the SLOT_MINUTE I can define the required date and set the start and end times as well (ex. 09/05/2023, between 00:00 to 23:59).

What I need is to use a Slider for this particular day. When I use the slider I can define any minute (i.e. 1 to 1400). Based on the Slider defined minute the day can be broken into segmants.

When Iā€™m breaking the day, always it should start from 00:00 and cannot go beyond 23:59.

Hope this clear my problem.
