Hello! Is it possible to include a hyperlink in the description? I’ve been trying to do it using parameters, but all I achieve is that the hyperlink gets consumed as a parameter without becoming clickable. Essentially, what I’m lacking is the clickable functionality. Thanks!
Hi @matjazz,
To include a hyperlink in the description, I’d recommend to use a text box instead of the description capability. This allows you to add a link and define whether it should open within the same or a new tab. From a look-and-feel perspective you can position it and choose colors etc. to match what the build in description looks like. You get the most flexibility in that regard when choosing the free-form layout.

Hello, I am unable to mark this as the solution because it represents an alternative method rather than addressing my specific query. I am aware of that option, but in this instance, it is not suitable. Based on your response, I understand that what I am asking for is not currently feasible. Therefore, I would appreciate it if you could consider including this as a feature request if it’s possible. Thank you.
Hi @matjazz,
Thanks for your feedback. At AWS, our roadmap is primarily driven by our customers. Your feedback helps us build a better service. I have tagged this as a feature request.
If you could share why the text box is no suitable option for your use case, it will help us to better understand the additional need for supporting links in the description.
Hello, it’s primarily a visual matter . I specialize in creating advanced dashboards, and in most instances, additional data needs to be shared on our Confluence page to keep the dashboard tidy. It’s crucial for users to easily access and see that link prominently displayed at the top. Exploring a third option might also be beneficial for these scenarios. Essentially, I’m seeking a visually appealing and user-friendly option that allows users to effortlessly navigate to detailed descriptions of the dashboard, calculations, and overview.
Comparison
As mentioned above, you can get to a 100% matching visual experience using text boxes in combination with the free-form layout. With that you can achieve the following:
Using description (as reference to be able to compare both options):
Using text box:
Both sheets are matching 100% down to the pixel.
In the analysis, I configured the text box in the following way - hiding background, border, selection, and disabling loading animation. For the color of the text I chose HEX code #797979.

It seems I might have different version or box because I cannot find this layout option.
Just a note regarding my purposed solution. Perhaps my request has merit because it ensures that whenever a user scrolls down on larger pages with the menu open, they can always see the link.
I hope the following screenshot helps to find the sheet layout settings within the analysis settings:
In terms of the position and “stickiness” of the description there is no difference between the build in capability vs. using the solution with the text box. In both cases, the description moves out of the visible screen if a user scrolls down on a larger dashboard to give more space to the visuals on the dashboard.
Let me know if something is still unclear or not working out with the proposed solution.
Thank you for your help and I learned again new things
