Is Controls Section Format Customization Possible in QuickSight?

Does QuickSight support customized formatting for the controls section at the top of the dashboard? For example, is it possible to customize the font and color?

We have heard from dashboard users that:

  1. Users do not see the Controls when they are collapsed
  2. When the Controls are expanded by default it is not obvious to users that they can be collapsed, and they take up valuable screen real estate.

I’m aware that font customization has been added to many other visual components of the dashboards and that brand customization is available, but I didn’t see anything related to the Controls dropdown.

Hi @michaeldorsch

Thank you for reaching out with your feedback. At this time, QuickSight does not support direct customization of the font and color for the Controls section at the top of the analysis.

While recent updates have introduced font customization for various visual components, these enhancements do not currently extend to the Controls dropdown.

To help improve visibility and optimize space usage for Controls, you may consider the following approaches:

  • Pinning Controls: You can pin filter controls to the top of the sheet, allowing users to access them without taking up additional space. If needed, you can unpin a control by expanding it, hovering over the top until three dots appear, and selecting Move to sheet.
  • Utilizing Free-Form Layout: Switching to a free-form layout provides greater flexibility in arranging controls and visuals, which can enhance analysis/dashboard usability.

We appreciate you bringing this to our attention. At AWS, customer feedback plays a vital role in shaping our roadmap. I have tagged this as a feature request to help promote visibility to the product team.
