ISO Alpha3 Country Codes Are not Recognized on Quicksight

Hi all,

My team is using ISO Alpha3 country code (3 letter country code) for the filled map visualizations based on ISO standard website.
While creating the dashboard, following ISO code had issues to be mapped:

Country Code Country Name
CCK Cocos (Keeling) Islands (the)
JEY Jersey
ESH Western Sahara
GGY Guernsey
IMN Isle of Man
PRI Puerto Rico
VIR Virgin Islands (U.S.)

Could you please help on why mentioned ISO country code are not mapped?

Also, does an Amazon have a dataset with countries and their ISO codes that are supported by Quicksight?

Is it the way to avoid potential issue with country-ISO code mismatch in future?

Hello Nadia,

First of all welcome to the QuickSight community.
I think with may be you need to use the latitude and longiture coordinates to get it working.
Please see Creating maps and geospatial charts - Amazon QuickSight

Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Deep

Hi Deep,

Thank you for the reply. Do you have any reliable source with country name and latitude and longitude coordinates?

Thank you,
Nadia

Hello Nadia,

i don’t but you may look into the internet. have you tried Alphs-2 code and checked if that works?

Cheers,
Deep

Hi Deep,

Just updates. This might help others with the same issue. Country coordinates worked, but the filled map does not allow using long and lat. Alpha-2 code does not perform well. Only 3 letter code works, but not for all countries.
Still the countries I mentioned earlier have no mapping. I guess the only one solution is to wait on the Quicksight team to update supported countries.

Regards,
Nadia

Hi @nefimova,
I’ve gone ahead and marked this as a feature request to promote visibility to the support team.

Let us know if you have any additional comments to add; if we do not hear back within the next 3 business days, I’ll close out this topic.

Thank you!

Hi Brett,

Not sure what I need to add to what I already wrote above.
Please let me know what additional details I need to provide.

Thank you,
Nadia

Hi @nefimova,
Nothing additional needed, just giving the opportunity in case you had something to add before I closed out the topic.
You can keep an eye on QuickSight updates through the ‘What’s New’ page in the community.

Thank you!
