I have a dataset in Amazon QuickSight that includes a field for states in India. One of the states in this field is ‘JAMMU AND KASHMIR.’ I am converting this state field, which is currently a string, to a geographical ‘State’ data type and adding it to a hierarchy for India. However, when I create a filled map, I cannot see any data for Jammu and Kashmir, even though the dataset contains entries for it.
I have also tried updating Jammu and Kashmir into just ‘Jammu’ , that did not work either. I did the same thing with just ‘Kashmir’ and still the issue persisted.
What could be causing this issue, and how can I fix it?
Hello @anshika1231, welcome to the QuickSight community!
Various countries have some geospatial issues depending on the granularity of data that is being utilized. What is the lowest granularity you have linked to your geographical hierarchy in your dataset? Including more hierarchies after the state field may help resolve the issue.
The lowest granularity I have linked to the geographical hierarchy is the state level and then I have added it to a hierarchy for single country that is India. While the rest of the states are mapping correctly, the issue persists specifically for ‘Jammu and Kashmir.’
Hello @anshika1231, if that is the case then I would suggest that you include another geospatial field into the dataset and hierarchy that is a lower level of granularity than state, like city, zip, or latitude and longitude. It seems like the mapping functionality doesn’t have the proper detail necessary to display that specific state.
I would also recommend opening a support ticket to troubleshoot the issue further.
Here are the steps for opening a support ticket - Creating support cases and case management - AWS Support . If your company has someone who manages your AWS account, you might not have direct access to AWS Support and will need to raise an internal ticket to your IT team or whomever manages your AWS account. They should be able to open an AWS Support case on your behalf.
Those are going to be your best options to resolve the issue you are currently facing. Please let me know if you have any further questions. Thank you!
Hello @anshika1231, since we have not heard back from you with any remaining questions, I will archive this topic.
