Map not showing while datapoints do

I am trying to show some data points on a “Points on Map” visualization and although the data points appear properly, the map itself does not!

Hello @kvilaras !

This sounds to me like an error that will need to go through AWS support, but first could you share an anonymized screenshot of what it looks like? This could help see if there is a reason why its doing this.

Hey @duncan !! Thank you very much for getting back for this!
I understand and will proceed with a ticket as you advise.

For the record the issue seems to be with the coords themselves.
I got (of course) longitude and latitude coords with values that get divided by 1000 for some unknown reason.

So for the time being I’ve worked around it by creating calculated fields within the data prep UI to get them working properly. The fact they get divided by 1000 results in showing a mini world map (if you zoom in enough) near the -0.01 , 0.01 coords (south west Africa). Zooming out of course results in a clustered single point on the world map.

Last but not least this seems to happen when involving the SPICE engine after joining an excel file to an RDS or Aurora table/dataset.

zoomed in version near the 0.0 coords as below:

any help here (if maybe this is something from my end I have no idea about) would really be appreciated!

Hello @kvilaras !

Thank you for sharing the screenshot and the digging that you have found! Based on what you have said I highly recommend creating an AWS support ticket.

Here are the steps to open a support case. If your company has someone who manages your AWS account, you might not have direct access to AWS Support and will need to raise an internal ticket to your IT team or whomever manages your AWS account.
