Map Visuals not Autofocusing in Pixel Perfect Reporting

I am running into the following problem using QuickSight’s Pixel-Perfect reports:

I have a filled map visual in my analysis that I am filtering via a control to only display zip code data in certain regions. This works fine in my analysis, however when I publish the dashboard and run the report while selecting a value to filter by in my control, the map visual does not auto-focus to my data. The data displayed is in the correct region, however the map’s focus is set to the entirety of my zip code data, instead of the subset of data selected through my filter.

I have found that this problem occurs with both the filled map visual and the points on map visual. Does anyone know of a workaround for this so that I can get accurately focused map visualizations in my dynamic reports?

Hey @Luke_Foley , welcome to the QuickSight community!

To clarify, the visual essentially zooms in to specific data points when you’re in the analysis but when the email report goes out, the map shows the entirety of the region that makes up the dataset?

Does it still only show those zip codes that you filter for as highlighted?

Hey @duncan,

Yes, the visual will “zoom to data” automatically as expected in the analysis whenever I filter to a certain zone of the map. When the report goes out, the map is zoomed to the entirety of the region instead of being zoomed to the data.

The map will only show the zip codes that I filter for as highlighted

Here is what is shown in my generated report when I filter for Fayetteville, NC:

Way off the mark! In the analysis view, the visual automatically zooms to the Fayetteville zip codes. Any advice on how I could make this visual dynamically zoom to the data in the report would be much appreciated. However I am pretty confident that I am doing things accurately and fear this may be a bug on QuickSight’s end.

I found the answer! The problem is that in my paginated report, I have a repeating dimension based off of month. In different months, there is data way off the mark from my target area. Even though the data is not included in the month the visual is showing, the auto-zoom is based off of the all-time data, and the solution is to clean my data so that these erroneous values do not exist.
