Need to understand the basic functionality of the histogram

Hi Community Members,

I need to understand the basic functionalities of the histogram

  1. When we hover over the visual, we can see the range with round brackets and square brackets.

  1. When we click on the summary data, we can see the measure field name with the MIN and MAX values. What exactly does the summary data mean?

Thanks & Regards

Hi @Biswajit_1993 - When you hover over a bin (bar) in the histogram visual in QuickSight, the tooltip shows the range of values that bin represents. The range is displayed using square brackets and parentheses ( ). A square bracket next to a number means that number is included in the bin’s range, while a parenthesis means it is excluded from the range. When you click on the summary data for the histogram, it shows the measure field name along with the minimum (MIN) and maximum (MAX) values in the dataset for that measure. You can customize the histogram by changing the number of bins (bars) on the x-axis or adjusting the bin width (range of values in each bin interval). This allows you to explore different ways to visualize the distribution of your data. QuickSight initially displays 10 bins, but you can increase this up to 1,000 bins. You can also enable a logarithmic scale on the y-axis to better visualize data with outliers or skewed distributions.
