New QuickSight pricing

Does the new QuickSight pricing mean that it’s not usage-based anymore? If that’s the case, it looks like we’ll need to actively monitor usage to delete users from QuickSight if they’ve been inactive for a while. In the past we didn’t have to delete those inactive users because they didn’t cost us anything.

Hi @David_Wong - Good point. are you saying earlier if a reader is not active for a month, there is no charge but with the new pricing model it is chargeable ?

Regards - Sanjeeb

Hi @Sanjeeb2022,

I know that under the old pricing model there was no charge for inactive readers. The updated documentation seems to indicate that it’s not the case anymore because of the fixed monthly cost of $3. I was hoping to get confirmation on this.

Ok. @David_Wong - Thanks for the details. This is very important point. Let’s hear from QuickSight team for the same. Tagging @Ashok @ArunSanthosh

@David_Wong , @Sanjeeb2022 ,

Yes this is right and the I believe the owner of your QuickSight account should have received an email on the changes. If you are an existing customer, you will see no changes to existing user pricing until May 1st 2025 .

Hello— is there an update on the new pricing? Is it still scheduled to transition in May? Primary concern is paying for inactive users that don’t need to access dashboard every month. Ideally, I don’t want to have to deprovision users every month just to reprovision them the few times a year they need to access for 1-2 sessions. thanks

@michael.kilpatrick ,
The change which was communicated last year will transition with the new pricing effective in May.

Thank you Koushik- will the $3/user/month apply even if users do not log in during a given month? The notification wasn’t clear on that.

Yes, that’s correct. 3$ per user/month irrespective of QuickSight usage.
