Say I have this visual and I want percent differences between the light blue and dark blue bars. The two bars are categories of time, but they are strange categories like (Jan-Feb of 2019 compared to Nov 2021-Aug 2023). I don’t care if the differences are in a table or an insight or a kpi. The y axis is a custom calculation and can change based on parameter, the x axis categories can also change based on a parameter. I’d like the percent difference to change as well. Can someone point me in the right direction?
@nw2this just to be clear, do you want to display the %diff between the age group population between 2 different timeframes?
I don’t think this is possible, this is the little outside general definition of the group bar chart.
The current QS group bar chart can only let you display the column that is being used for the aggregation.
Hi @nw2this,
maybe you can tried something with difference
depending on you data.

I want the percent difference in the numbers the bars represent. It doesn’t have to be on a bar chart.
@nw2this can you share sample data output?
At this point, I am confused about what you are looking for.
if you want to display, % change, you can do the calculated field, calculate % diff there with the formula, and use that in the bar chart.
Hi @nw2this,
Percent difference can be calculated and displayed as a tool tip in the bar chart or as standard column in a table. See this dashboard for more details - Percent Difference Between Different Time Periods

@ArunSanthosh @neelay @ErikG This is what I am trying to accomplish but I don’t have two separate fields (current sales and prior sales), I have one sales field that is aggregated by categorical fields (a current/prior category and a product category). So, I think I need to combine the difference function that ErikG recommended (or percent difference function even better) with this tooltip or table because I believe it will subtract rows instead of columns. Getting closer but not quite there!
Hi @nw2this,
Glad to know that you are closer to resolving your issue.
In the sample I shared, I’m working on top of a single sales field as well. The current and prior sales columns are calculations on top of this measure column..
