In the Cost Intelligence dashboard, there is a MoM Pivot that I find very useful for IAM and SCP work. I am wondering if there is a way to create a similar Pivot for services that I have never used during the period it has been running.
It seems that the dataset used for the Pivot is based on my billing data, so it doesn’t appear to include all AWS services.
So, my questions are:
Is there a dataset or a way to create a dataset that includes all AWS services?
Are there any example codes or existing dashboards for this that I might have missed?
Hello @Anders , welcome to the QuickSight community!
I don’t believe its possible to include AWS services that aren’t being used in your account in the cost intelligence dashboard. To clarify, were you using those services in the past but spun them down or are you anticipating using those services in the future?
Thanks, it’s nice to have found my way here. My idea was to create a dashboard or a widget with information on how many services are used in the account compared to how many services AWS has (like 21/270, where 21 services are used and 270 is the total number of services AWS offers).
Thanks for the answer. I think I shouldn’t do it like this.
That makes sense to me! I’m not sure the exact number of AWS services but you should be able to make a distinct count on the service name field in your dataset and divide it by the count of services. Something like this:
