Provisioning users with amazon quicksight

Hi, I wonder if it is possible to automatically create a Quicksight local user without requiring them to sign up via email?
Thank you for assistant.

Hi @peterd,
Take a look at the attached documentation and let me know if you have any additional questions:

Hi @Brett ,
Thank you for your response. I already looked at that documentation before asking that question.
"Amazon Quick Sight generates a registration URL. The user accesses this registration URL to create their account. "
Let me tell a little bit more about my scenario.
My users are authenticated via our own portal.
I want to automatically create multiple Quicksight accounts for my users and assigning them as author/reader.
I don’t want my users to sign up for extra things/clicks on any url to activate their account 'cause they are already users of the system.
The automatically created users will only access Quicksight via embedding url without knowing their Quicksight account is.

I wonder if it is possible to do that. Any insights will help. Thanks again.

hello @peterd ,

Yes it should be possible via IDP federation.

Please see here for reference -Setting up IdP federation using IAM and QuickSight - Amazon QuickSight

Example - if you have MS Entra for identity management see and refer -Enabling Amazon QuickSight federation with Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) | AWS Big Data Blog

The process and approach is similar for all SAML based such as Okta, Entra etc.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Deep

Unfortunately, our system authentication is mixed. A user can login by using different methods.
That was why Quicksight local account is the only option.
Are there any other options ?

Thank you for your time.

Hi @peterd,

Hope everything is well! Just wanted to check in since you haven’t received a response in a while. Were you able to find a solution to your question regarding account creation or are you still facing that issue? If we do not receive a response within 3 business days, I’ll close out of this topic.

Thank you!
